The following are tips on how to connect to Liberty Interconnect and assume the user is running Win95/98 on a dial up modem basis.

1) First, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel.



Double click on Network.



Under the "Following network components are installed" you should see:



1.1) The follwing will install Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks. You will need your Win98/98 CD ROM to complete this step. Click on "Add" Double click on "Client" Select "Microsoft" on the left and "Client for Microsoft Networks" on the right. Select "OK".

1.2) The following will install the Microsoft Dial-up Adapter. You will need your Win98/98 CD ROM to complete this step. Click on "Add" Double click on "Adapter" Select "Microsoft" on the left and "Dial-up Adapter" on the right. Select "OK".

1.3) The following will install the Microsoft TCP/IP protocol. You will need your Win98/98 CD ROM to complete this step. Click on "Add" Double click on "Protocol" Select "Microsoft" on the left and "TCP/IP" on the right. Select "OK".

2) Second, go to "Identification" page, and provide a "Computer Name", "Workgroup", and "Computer Description" if not already there. These can be ANY value but not the same for either one. Example: You can put your first name as the "Computer Name", your last name as the "Workgroup" and "Pentium" as the "Computer description". Select "OK".



Your computer will ask to reboot.

Close all applications and say "Yes" to Reboot. When you restart, it will ask for a "username" and "password". It is best to supply just a username (use your first name) and NO PASSWORD! Select "OK" and Click "OK" again to confirm no password. 3) Third, double click the "Internet" icon back in the "Control Panel".



Depending on your version of "IE" or Internet Explorer, the following instructions may not be perfectly accurate. Go to the "Connections" page.



Click on Settings. Click on the "Add" Button to add a connection.



Rename the computer you are dialing from "My Connection" to "Liberty Interconnect". Leave the modem as is. These instructions assume your modem is already functionning properly. Click on "Next".



The phone number of the computer you are dialing is Area code: "514" and Telephone number: "393-3410". Put "Canada" as the Country Code. Click on "Next". (Note 450 callers who are not long distance, should put 514 as there area code and add 514 infront of the number ie "514343-3410")



Click on Finish.
Select "OK" at the Internet Properties window.



4) You are now ready to connect to the Internet and browse web sites. Double click on "The Internet", "Internet Explorer" or "Netscape" icon on your desktop.

4.1You will need to supply your login and password to the server. Your login is usually your email address and your password is the password you requested. ***Both these fields need to be typed in LOWER CASE***Check the save password box and Click on "Connect".



NOTE:Because the different E-mail programs all have different layouts where the settings are supplied, we will not be posting detailed instructions on E-mail configuration immediately. However, no matter what the E-mail program (Internet Mail, Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook 97, Netscape Navigator, Lotus Notes, etc...), they all need the following and ONLY the following information in order to work with the server.
